Join Together for a Burned Food Offering & the Recitation and Practice of the MA TRI Mantra in Support of the Nepali Flood Victims

We will be gathering together to perform a white burned food offering, called kar sur in Tibetan, to satisfy the needs and wants of those in the intermediate state following the devastating Nepali floods. By performing this ritual, their minds can become peaceful and enjoy a more positive rebirth. Just like we can seek shelter or eat delicious food in a dream, similarly those in the intermediate state after death feel a desire for things and can have those desires fulfilled. This is the skillful means and compassion of the sur practice.

We will also be reciting and practicing from the root text of the MA TRI mantra, one of the three essence mantras of the Yungdrung Bön religious tradition. Sending Out and Gathering Back with the MA TRI Mantra is considered a root text of the mantra and is commonly performed for many reasons including during the forty-nine days of the intermediate state after death in order to purify obstacles for the deceased.

These prayers are included in A Blazing Mala of Wish-Fulfilling Jewels and will be screen-shared during the event for everyone to follow along.
